In 1985 Steve Jobs found himself out of a job. He had left Apple and probably grew bored quickly. So, he started NeXT Computer Inc. From what I know about NeXT, Jobs was trying to out Apple Apple. He wanted to build a computer that would be targeted at the educational community that Apple had been targeting. He wanted it to be stylish and have a GUI that would be both flexible and easy to use.
