Comic author Rob Reid recently spoke at TED 2012 about how to properly interpret the entertainment industry’s estimated economic impact due to piracy. It boils down to this: ringtone theft is killing the economy, over 50 thousand jobs in unrelated industries have been lost to balance the math, and the average iPod is actually worth eight billion dollars.
