Romantically Apocalyptic

From Romantically Apocalyptic – Art by Vitaly S. Alexius

Ahh! Nothing like a good cuppa and some good cartoons….

And now…

Let’s watch some cartoons!

Today I’m going to post some requested cartoons from our reader(s), provided that the links still work. But first, let’s watch an old newsreel mashup about the Douglas B-19:

Well, you can’t win them all.

First up is one of several requests from chrystlubitshi, this one for some Hong Kong Fooey cartoons. I went out and had a look, and I found the pickings mighty slim – I found two (2) [zwei]{два} cartoons, both of poor quality (video-wise). But here is a Hong Kong Fooey cartoon from 1974, Green Thumb:

Next up is a cartoon from 1956 featuring Bugs and Wile E. Coyote, To Hare is Human:

Another request was for a Roadrunner cartoon, so from 1958 here is Hook, Line and Stinker:

Last up is another request, a Tex Avery cartoon from 1947, Slap Happy Lion:

And that’s all for this week. If you have a request, let know in comments and I’ll do what I can.

Also, buy the DVDs for these cartoons whenever you are able, just to show that we’re not deadbeats.

  • I found out the other night that many of the Looney Tunes are available to purchase on the XBOX via the Zune video.

    • The Professor

That's great that they're making them more easily available. Is an XBOX one of those Tivo things?

      • On the off chance you're being serious, no, the Xbox is not a TiVo. It's Microsoft's gaming console that they've bogged down with tons of extra cruft and software (whether you want it or not) in an attempt to make it into people's central entertainment console.

Tivo is a device that lets you record and playback television.

        • The Professor

Thank you for that Techie, but I was being deliberately obtuse in trying to give P161911 a bad time. I realize that it can be hard to tell, what with all of my various blunders regarding things that are presently popular, so I apologize.

        • Since I ditched satellite TV over a year ago the XBOX has been my "central entertainment console". Works quite well at it I might add. Between that and an antenna I don't miss much I really want to watch.

          • Yes, I hear that in the Imperial States of America, the various set top boxes, consoles, and appliances have really come into their own as a replacement for more traditional TV. Here in Socialist North Canuckistan, it's hit-and-miss content that's either complete crap, or way overpriced – and most of what you actually want to see isn't available.

You see? Our ways of life are not so different!

          • I either actually pay the $20 or so for a current TV series if I REALLY like it (Falling Skies and The Walking Dead), still MUCH cheaper than the $60+/month for cable/satellite or use a program called PlayOn which lets me go to various sources on the internet to find content or just use it as a Netflix box.. The stuff I pay for works great, the PlayOn stuff can be hit or miss, sometimes requiring long loading times or multiple pauses.

  • Off Topic: It's Fleet Week here in S.F., and I just spent my break watching what I think was an F-22, an F-16, and a P-51 do tricks over the Golden Gate Bridge. High Alpha Pass in Raptor =LOUD!

    <img src="http://www.worldwide-military.com/Military%20Aircraft/US%20Fighters%20plaatjes/Groot/F-22_2.jpg">

    Return to regular programming.

    • The Professor

Cool! I wish I could get over there to take some pictures.

      • I wish you could just so's I'd know what I was looking at! Not sure about the F-16, seemed to have a more swept wing profile, Then again, it was going awfully fast.

I'll bring the camera and try to get on the roof tomorrow, today is just their rehearsal day.

  • skitter

I have most of them. Still waiting on Hare-less Wolf and Hopalong Casualty.

    • The Professor

You're a good person skitter. I almost posted Hopalong Casualty today, but it lost the coin toss.

  • chrystlubitshi

    Thank you so much, Professor!
