I think I know, but do you know what this control room was used for?

Those old Mesta brochure pages you keep posting talk so much about rolling mills that was the first thing that I thought of when I saw the Mesta name on those hulks. A little research and it turns out to be the McLouth Steel Trenton plant outside De-stroit.
Here's the source, and some way cool images. (And purple prose.)

From the map of McLouth, I can only find 6 machines in a row in the 'slab depiling area'.
…also one of the guys that invaded the Mothball Fleet in Suisun Bay, including the USS Iowa before it went down to SoCal.
Excellent sleuthing! I made a half-assed attempt to find the source of the photo but didn't come up with anything.
My half-educated guess was a rolling mill too, for the simple fact that it was a large part of Mesta's business.
'Slab depiling area'….sounds like where slabs go to have excess hair removed. That's a cool site at the link, but now my next 'old control room post' is busted. Dang.
/you don't like my Mesta posts? Sniff…
I heart Mesta Memories! Don't take me wrong! I hardly ever comment on them 'cause I get off on some tangent looking up the machinery they mention.
'Slab depiling area' might mean something quite different to an Englishman, for whom 'piles' are a tender subject.
I like that they made a 44" wide slab of steel that was just 28 feet short of a nice, round 10,000 feet long.
Looking at the plant map, I think the location is the six stand finishing area. It looks like a better fit to me.
I'm pretty sure I remember that level in Portal 2…
I was thinking HalfLife 2
Yeah, definitely hoping there was a portrait of Cave Johnson on the wall that I was going to see in the zoom.
I am surprised people don't take abandoned industrial sites and input them into games inch by inch and then leave them as is…
these were long gone when i passed through, though the control room was intact
