Excellent choice! I just love that little song, arranged for bass clarinet, piano and banjo. A pity that they cut it short.
If you didn't already know, it's from "Stanley Kubrick's A Clockwork Orange Musical Soundtrack", one of my favourite albums. I've been listening to it for nearly 40 years.
The poor old girl just looked like she was pining away for unrequited love.
I knew that song was on that soundtrack, didn't think it was made just for the film. Where else would anyone have heard it, though? Also, I was reading an article in a sorta recent New Yorker (the Sci-Fi issue, June 4 & 11) by Anthony Burgess about A Clockwork Orange, must have had that soundtrack on my brain.
Tap dancing At-Ats… that's what I want to see! (Hey, AT AT! That's twice the toaster!)
That's actually the only place that song has ever appeared. A few years back, I wrote to Wendy Carlos on her website about the song (I can't remember exactly why though…I may have been after the score at the time. I've got crap for brain cells anymore), and she couldn't remember much about it, other than it was for the film and wasn't published anywhere else. I do remember being bummed by her answer.
Tap dancing AT-ATs? The sound would be deafening, but it would be fun to watch. If we wait long enough, I'm sure that YouTube will deliver.
