Lego Cummins Engine

Reader chrystlubitshi sent in a tip that had to be run immediately within days of its arrival. Above is a Cummins QSK95 engine. Made of Lego. It was built last weekend at Brickworld in Chicago by a Cummins Brickworld Build Team, which includes Cummins engineers as well as students and teachers.

Not only is it Lego, so it’s awesome, and an engine, so it’s awesomer, but it’s a way that Cummins was able to get students excited about engineering. Considering my decision to be an engineer was due in large part to my love of assembling Legos into my own creations, I’d say that Cummins may be on to something.

I saw an article about that engine the other day, and it's big – like around 4 feet long and 2 feet high. Lotsa Legos in that thing.

    Ill bet its hollow.

for those of you that don't click the source link, the engine takes over 30,000 individual pieces to build, it does not run, but is a life sized (or so) replica.

I'm still looking to see if I can find progression of build pics, or video… no luck yet. (I normally attend the show, and would have taken some myself.. wasn't able to this year though)
