I was at a party last night, not a huge one, but enough liquor was consumed that I’m fresh out of ideas. So, as the title says, if it’s the problem then it’s also the solution. Enjoy this USENET classic.
’tis said…
the horse and mule live thirty years,
they never taste light wines or beers;
sheep and goats are dead at twenty,
they drink no liquor – water plenty;
at ten, the cat’s lost all nine lives,
no beast on milk or water thrives;
at five the birds are mostly dead,
they look not on wine that’s red;
but evil, wicked, rum-soaked men,
live on for three score years and ten.

Mmmm, barleywine. Here is a local one that has a very fitting name.

Are you from the SE PA/South Jersey/DE/MD area?
Originally from NW Ohio but relocated to Lexington, Kentucky. I just happen to like good beer
Sometimes I forget they've gone beyond being a local brew.
You, sir, have impeccable taste.
A good friend of mine was the head of QC/QA at Victory for 5 years or so. He still has some back stocks of some very interesting Victory beers.
I live about an hour from their brewery, so the market is well flooded with their goods.
Not that I'm at all biased, but I'd argue that they're one of the premier breweries in the US as far as quality, diversity, and interest level of their beers.
They have an absurd number of interesting yeast strains, all of which they cultivate in house.
As far as I know they're also one of the only major breweries with a decoction mashed beer. If you haven't had the "Victory Lager" you definitely should. Phenomenal.
Yeah, Victory is very nice to have around. We have a decent brewing culture around Philly right now so it is most definitely enjoyable. Hop Devil is kind of a traditional way to start a night for me. Somewhat similar to Magic Hat and Rogue, just great quality drinking beers. If you're ever in the SE PA area, I'd suggest going to Iron Hill Breweries too. One of several brewpubs in the area.
Here is some fine Triple fermented Ales from Quebec with 8% alcohol per volume

8%. That's cute
Barley wine ales tend to be VERY high in ABV. The Dogfish Head pictured above is upwards of 15%.
Sweet jesus I love those beers. If for any reason you are in the SE PA region, we have a chain of resturaunts with breweries in them. If it isn't on tap, buy a bottle of the Quadrupel. It is entirely glorious.

Unibroue is an excellent brewery. I really dig their traditional Belgian approach. The awesome bottle art doesn't hurt, either.
Y'all's selections make my beer tastes feel a bit… bland, like I'd show up to Cars & Coffee to proudly display my '03 Camry.
/I don't actually own an '03 Camry
//Chrome's spell check likes "y'all's"
ya'll's
had a great bit o' fun explaining the
