This tip for harassing rats with wings is a service of Atomic Toasters.
And now…
Let’s watch some (more) cartoons!
It’s Black Friday here in the lower 48, and probably in the icy hell up north too. It’s a good day to stay home and not spend money on useless crap, just because it’s cheaper. If that’s not a good enough reason, think of the crowds and the traffic, and the chances of getting your car dinged up in a parking lot. Home is better on days like this.
First up is a request from PrawoJazdy, A Chuck Jones cartoon from 1952, Punch Trunk.
Here’s another Chuck Jones classic from 1951, Feed the Kitty.
Next, from 1950, a Robert McKimson cartoon, Early to Bet.
Last, we have another Chuck Jones cartoon, Sheep Ahoy from 1953.
And that’s all for this week. If you have a request, put in in the comments and I’ll see what I can do. I just lost access to about 20 excellent quality titles because Warner Bros. shut them down, so these links can go away at any time.

Given the technology theme of the site and the fascination with all things retro, I'm a bit surprised that I don't recall ever seeing any Tennessee Tuxedo cartoons here.

There are just so many cartoons out there, so many good cartoons, it's hard to choose. There are lots of them that I want to get to, Bullwinkle & Rocky, the old George of the Jungle, Superchicken and Tom Slick, etc. Then, there is Japanese anime, where there are a huge number of titles, some extremely good, most mediocre, and many that are terrible.
It all boils down to, 'what is reasonable for a short article'? When I first had the idea of a weekly cartoon post, I didn't know if it would be well-received or not, so I decided to start out with the old classics that most everyone enjoys, and didn't eat up too much of the reader's time, considering that most of you are at work when you read our website (aren't you?). I'm not sure how many people watch the cartoons that I post, but there are at least a few, and they seem to enjoy them, so that's to whom I'm catering.
I plan on introducing different cartoons in the future, and if there is something in particular that you want to watch, make a request in comments and I'll see what I can come up with. For now, if there are no requests, then you have to put up with my choices.
I wish I wasn't dependent upon YouTube for material, but that's the only format that seems to work with WordPress. If I could link to my personal animation library, I could show all sorts of good things.
Moose and squirrel make a comeback every few years, and GotJ had a brief revival when the live action flick hit the screens, but I haven't seen Superchicken or Tom Slick in decades. It would be great to feature them here.
I've never really been into anime, but if it's Japanese vintage celluloid you're after, I wouldn't mind it if somebody was able to upload a bunch of Ultraman yo Youtube.

Oh my, does that bring back memories. The Japanese modellers and set builders really did (and do) some great work. And the rubber-suit builders, too.
Let me see what I can find for Superchicken and Tom Slick, because you know there's no such word as fail…
Chuck Jones had such a wonderfully twisted sense of humor at times, like the cookie-making sequence in Feed the Kitty.
I still wonder how much of what we see in Chuck Jones cartoons are due to Michael Maltese. I don't know how the writer/director relationship works in making animation.
Thanks! "Punch Trunk" is a laugh riot. I always liked the one shot cartoons. There's an old one I can't find with a World's Fair theme. I'll see if I can dig it up and transfer it to the Tubes of You.
You're very welcome. Let me know when you find your cartoon.
