There have been quite a few times in my life, personally, when I’ve had people tell me, quite enthusiastically, that I absolutely HAD to watch such-and-such television show, because the main character was oh-so-incredibly-much like myself. Most recently, I was directed to watch How I Met Your Mother, because the “Barney” character reminded someone incredibly of me. Interestingly, this is the third time I have had someone tell me a NPH character reminded them of me, the others being Doogie Howser, back when I was young, and more recently Dr. Horrible. I take offense to none of them. Particularly Dr. Horrible.
That said, however, there are certainly actors who would be a lot more desirable to whom I could bear a resemblance. I don’t think any guy would be offended if they were told they resembled Captain Kirk from the new Star Trek movie. Whoever he is. I’ve been told by reliable sources that he tends to make girls all squidgy in their britches, and that’s probably something most guys would be okay with.
So how about it? Good or bad, who would you say is your science fiction doppleganger, the character in the realm of Sci-Fi who most resembles you? And, bonus question, who would your significant other or best friend say is your doppleganger?

Most often I am compared to Dwight Schrute, of The Office. Especially if I am not wearing my contacts and have been lazy about getting a haircut.
I've been told, by perhaps a dozen people, that my doppleganger is Ray Liotta. Can't think of any SciFi movies he's been in, though.
Maybe a Kelvinator commercial?
His filmography says he was in the soap opera Another World. I can't claim any knowledge of daytime dramas, but it does have a Sci-Fi-esque title.
He was also apparently in Muppets from Space.
Back when I was more of a surfer boy several womens told me I looked like Mark McGrath. Since this McGrath character made the womens weak in the knees, I did not mind the comparison. Now, if I were to bleach my hair a bit, I would just look like a fat, badly aging Mark McGrath.
As far as sci-fi doppelgangers, I don't know as if I have any.
Doppelganger? No, no one has ever said a thing like that to me.
"bonus question, who would your significant other or best friend say is your doppleganger?"
thank you for recognizing that some of us don't have significant others.
you have no idea how many companies, stores, websites, blogs, etc. that i boycott because they favor couples or assume everyone has a significant other or a sexual partner. even the Senna movie facebook page was asking about the reactions of SOs that aren't F1 fans.
It's a site for nerds; we have to recognize our audience.

Ouch. He's really down on the nerd side of things isn't he?
He's just lashing out 'cuz people keep telling him to get a haircut.

Circa 95-97, my hair was long enough that I could put it in my mouth if it was wet. When dry, it was much too wavy. It stuck out sideways a-la Dagwood Bumstead.
"bonus question, who would your
significantmother or best friend say is your doppleganger?"Oh dammit, that would have been a better question.
that's very mature of you and also respectful to my mother.
No disrespect intended to orphans or test tube babies, either, BTW.
My wife says I look like Bruce Willis, but I don't see it. Maybe Bruce Willis with the body of John Goodman. Maybe that was I just sound like Bruce Willis.
Compare this to my picture above and tell me you don't see the similarities.

Ok, ok, you win. Sheesh. That was very nostalgic, though.
Wasn't trying to one-up you. I had to Google LSMFT.
Aha! I did make you look. One point for me.
My god, you ARE an academic.
I think mostly people wonder what planet I came down from.
<img src="http://30.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_l32ld0aMjb1qa3nkyo1_500.png" width="500"> So you're related to the good professor? Some people have told me that I remind them of a shorter David Letterman and I take that as a great compliment, he's quite good looking. I wish I was as witty, smart, and entertaining too. Personally I felt a strong connection to the characters Mike in "The Moon is a Harsh Mistress" and Doug in "Dandelion Wine" at different times of my life. I wish I could be more like Rex Libris, I have the cake thing down.
Since I only got one out of four of those references… probably.
Hey!
Personally, I think I bear the most striking resemblance to this handsome fellow:

That's about right, but with more scotch and poutine gravy.
But with more gumballs, I think.
Picard. Jean Luc Picard. I think it's mostly due to our similar hairstyles and pointy heads.
People used to tell me I looked like the kid from SeaQuest DSV, Jonathan Brandis.
…which unfortunately caused me to watch SeaQuest DSV once. Also, I didn't off myself in 2003.
Geez… people tell me I look like Tim Robbins and one plumber I had as customer kept asking me to repeat Sean Connery lines to him. No, not that kind of customer!
Great! Keep posting good stuff
Usually I do not learn post on blogs, but I would like to say that this write-up very forced me to try and do it! Your writing taste has been amazed me. Thanks, quite great article.
