I ran across this little gem a few days ago while hanging out at the VW Vortex Car Lounge, where they have an incredible thread on photos of last month’s Tsunami disaster. The images are compelling and heartbreaking, and as time progresses they just keep getting more amazing.
Yet, once in a while a posts will show up to relieve a bit of the levity, and todays feature is one such find.
Someone posted a link to this Flash game, Nuclear Power Plant Simulator , where your objective is to run the plant through one complete fuel cycle without blowing things up or going into meltdown. And just to make things interesting you can choose the difficult level where “Poor Workmanship” throws random Monkey-Wrenches into the mix. It is brilliant in its simplicity.
Are you up for the challenge, or are you like me and keep blowing things up? (My plant is currently in full meltdown) And be sure to check out their other flash games such as Bird Snatcher. Goofy stuff…

Wasn't there a game like this for the Commodore 64?
There certainly was one for the Apple ][ – one of our favorites back in high school!
I managed to burn through my fuel without burning through the core of the earth. I didn't put out a lot of power, but I didn't melt down.

Beat that.
Nuclear engineers are not allowed to school the rest of us idiots.
I got it to melt down in 5 days.
